The third planet from the sun is Earth! Read through the information and watch the this video clip from the BBC to find out about the Space Race before creating a timeline of events that took place.

Continue to practise multiplying by TO x TO, choosing the level you feel confident with.
Some of you will have moved on to multiplying HTO x TO - you can complete the 'Hot Stuff' section.
Make sure you set your work out clearly, keeping the digits in the correct columns -especially as you will be generating some big numbers!
The answers are attached so you can mark your own work before uploading it.

Today's challenge: a final bit of 2 x 2 digit multiplication.

Today's independent task is to solve some word problems that require you to apply your long multiplication skills.
Read the question carefully, identify the key information and check if more than 1 calculation is required before solving each problem.

Today's fun maths challenge is a place value game (ideally for 2 players**)!
Each player has two sets of 0-9 digits and must place them all in the boxes to create 5 x 4 digit numbers that are as close to the target as possible. Whoever is closest to each target gets a point for that box so you need to consider your placement of each digit carefully.
