In Year 5 we have a great culture of reading for pleasure and the children regularly recommend books to each other. Obviously several children are missing this book chat and I have been receiving book recommendations via email, which is lovely!
I have created a 'Padlet' page which is like a virtual pinboard so you can continue to share the books you have enjoyed, while we are not all together in school. Please email Mrs Ferrier if you have any books you wish to share with a short reason why you would recommend it and it will be added.
At the moment, the ISS is flying over Sussex in the early evening. If you would like to track it and look out for it (from the safety of your garden), follow the details in the link below and you will get sent the time and direction it will pass over. The nearest location to us that you can select is Worthing.
It is the third brightest object in the sky and easy to spot if you know when and where to look! Visible to the naked eye, it looks like a fast-moving plane only much higher and traveling thousands of miles an hour faster!
Hello Year 5! Well done for another fantastic week of remote learning! It’s been great to see the work you have been uploading, as well as photos of you getting outside and being active, your drawings and other creations and some impressive baking skills this week.
The Last Wild is a fantastic book which has already proved to be popular in 5F. The author, Piers Torday, read the book live each weekday during the last lockdown and he has now made all the chapters available on YouTube so you can listen in your own time.
He has also started to read the second book in the series, The Dark Wild so these chapters are also available too.
This is the link to the first chapter of The Last Wild - the rest of the chapters appear beside the video on YouTube.
Here are some more ideas of activities you can do to give yourself some time away from a screen. It would be great to see photos of any other activities you complete, so don’t forget to upload them!
Hello Year 5! We have had another great week of online learning and whether you have been at school or at home, well done for all your hard work. We have really enjoyed receiving your work as well as photos of all the activities you have been doing. Once a week you will receive an email with feedback on the work you have completed the previous week.
SB in 5F thought this was a good link to share with you all - and it is! There are fantastic photos and information all about the historic moon landing, space exploration and humans in space. You can even have a look around the inside of the International Space Station! Check it out!

Here are some different activities to keep you busy if you need a bit of a digital detox and some time away from a screen! If you have a go at any, feel free to upload photos of what you have been up to!
In a few week's time, we will be doing some 3-D artwork. Please can you start to save the cardboard tubes from any toilet rolls and kitchen rolls you have at home! Thank you!
(Those of you in school, you will have card provided - please do not bring any in to school).
